An important decision of the Council of State (320/2025), which annuls the decision “on the non-classification of a building at 3 Kallinikou Street as a listed building” is a hope for saving the historical buildings of the interwar period, which remain in Athens and are in danger of being lost due to a wave of demolitions observed mainly in the last three years. The HELLENIC SOCIETY for Environment and Culture and MONUMENTA appealed in November 2023 against the Building Service of the Municipality of Athens and the Ministry of Environment and Energy for the annulment of the building permit for demolition and the decision on the subject of “Non-classification as a listed building of the building at 3 Kallinikou Street”.
