Landscape constitutes a multidimensional concept characterized by various approaches and meanings. The Landscape definition given by the European Landscape Convention (Florence, 2000) stresses its immaterial dimension regarding the values and meanings attributed by people. In the Greek reality, the lack of a discernible law for landscape and the poor recognition of landscape as a public good, make the evaluation, the management, the planning and consequently the future of the Greek landscape much more difficult to manage. The Greek landscape frequently is considered as a vendible resource, principally in terms of tourism, and it is undergoing great transformations in its structure and symbolic value. In order to study the future evolution of landscapes, some parameters as intensity of change, time, and reversibility must be taken into account. Finally, landscape, as it is a conceptual meeting point of different elements and disciplines, could be an integrative concept as well as a complex indicator of multidimensional topics as sustainability.
