One award, one medal and an honorable distinction were awarded to Greece from the European Union and Europa Nostra for restoration works and exhibiting monuments.
he award, one of the six that were given, was awarded to the showing off the archaeological site of Skarkos at Ios island for the quality of works and for the minimum alterations done to this unique place which is dated from prehistoric time.
The medal was awarded for the restoration and the showing off of the palace complex of Galerius in Thessaloniki for the high quality of works.
Finally, the honorable distinction was given to the restoration and the re-use as a museum of the vestry of Monastery of Vatopedi at Agio Oros.
The awards will be given at a ceremony which is going to be held on the 12th of June at the Durham cathedral in the United Kingdom.
