‘The ‘restoration’ of Portara’, ‘The standing stone and its company’, and the ‘The awakening of the byzantine saints’ could have been the titles of ‘The true fairy tales of Naxos’ narrated on the 3rd of July by three archaeologists, at the ex-College of Ursulines, on the castle of Chora-Naxos.
Christos Doumas, Foteini Zapheiropoulou, Fani Drosogianni, through a short tour of their archaeological life in the island of Naxos, during the period 1960-1990, narrated snapshots considering research, protection and enhancement of antiquities that could have been fairy tales.
Through the collection of this precious material, we attempt to examine an alternative perspective, unexplored in terms of interpretation, considering the social past and present of the monuments, commencing at the same time our research on intangible heritage about understandings, uses and management of monuments, products of which will be published in due course on our new website.
The ‘True fairytales of Naxos’ are organised with the collaboration of the Naxos Municipality and kindly supported by VALLINDRAS distillery, AKTAION pastry shop, the ceramist Margarita Ekklisiarhou and the musicians Apostolo Moustaki and Vasili Tzanini. |
