The MuA Project is the title of a new programme of documentation now on line at www.mua.gr/. It is an ambitious effort that combines two basic characteristics: a) the protection of the monuments and b) the participation of the citizens using as a tool an extended database that documents and assesses monuments at risk in Greece.
The database-webpage provides the opportunity to citizens to submit information for a monument at risk that will be uploaded to the database after being cross-checked by the administrators. This is trully a very important tool. Its completeness and the interrelation of the fields could upgrade it to an encyclopedia of information for each monument at risk. Its dynamics and evolution depends mainly on the participation of the public.
The MuA Project is supported by a network of partners and it is run by the NGO: Elliniki Etairia, Society for the preservation of the environment and cultural heritage, through the Council for Architectural Heritage based in Athens. The first stage of the project was funded by “The A.G. Leventis Foundation” and “The Stavros Niarchos Foundation”. |
