The fourth meeting of the Enforcement branch of the Compliance Committee under the Kyoto Protocol (UNFCC) concluded 17 April 2008 with a final decision of non-compliance with respect to Greece, at least for three months due to the unreliable estimation of greenhouse gas emissions. Kyoto Protocol includes specific guidelines/ targets for national recording mechanisms regarding the inventory for carbon dioxide emissions. As a result Greece risks ending up before the European Court of Justice if it fails to come up with a reliable way of testing its pollution levels within the next three months. |
