The ethical concerns of taking funerary sculptures out of context | Dr Maria Athanasekou, Art Historian, Lecturer at the University of the Aegean, School of Social Anthropology and History | In March 2017 it was announced that the tombstone of Sofia Afentaki, will be removed, permanently, for preservation reasons, to the National Glyptoteque and a replica will take its place. This paper seeks to discuss the ethical concerns of removing the sculpture from its original context from a kaleidoscope of, often, contradictory, views. | 4/06/2018 |
